Here is a question. What do you get when you mix the Houttemans and Schmelzers, then add living as a McCarty most of your adult life. The answer is a brave and strong woman. My mom took a fall on May 30 while alone in her home. Even though badly injured and bleeding profusely, she was able to kick in her survival instincs and summon the strength to get the front door open just enough to cry for help.

First of all, I would like to offer my unending gratitude to the still unidentified person who happened to be walking on my mom’s street and made the decision to call 911. Also, my sincere thanks to Andy and Jan for being with my mom and contacting me of the fall. I would also like to commend the MedStar paramedics for their professionalism and genuine care for my Mom, saving her life by slowing the bleeding, stabilizing her, and getting her to the hospital quickly. To the ER, doctors, nurses, and surgical team at Henry Ford Hospital, my gratitude for patching her up and getting her on the road to recovery.

My final thought goes to my Mom. Please keep her in your prayers, and at the end of your day, make her your Final Thought too.
