DATELINE: COMING IN NOVEMBER...

We are all looking forward to the big wedding between Austin & Kristina!

DATELINE: NOVI, MICHIGAN

Brad McCarty joined his co-workers at Nishikawa Cooper and participated in a Japanese softball tournament against other auto manufacturers on Sunday, September 18 in Novi, Michigan. Nishikawa received a bye in the first round, and then went on to defeat Nissan in the second round by a score of 20-7. The game was highlighted by a big blow from the American. With bases loaded, Brad came up and launched a drive over the 10' tall fences at 282 feet for a grand slam homerun. I also may add that it was the slowest trot on a dinger I have ever seen in my lift. Unfortunately, their team did exit in the 3rd round as they dropped a 14-4 decision to the eventual winners of the tournament. Congrats Brad on the homer, playing great at 3rd base, and not getting hurt.

DATELINE: MANISTEE, MICHIGAN

On the morning of September 17, Mike and Chris McCarty went on a small plane ride in Manistee. Mike reports that they had a good time.

Dear Editor: Please remind your readers to think ahead in case you run into a jam at a Halloween celebration. For instance, I mistakenly wore an old-time Army fort costume to elementary school when nobody else wore a costume. I was supposed to be Rin-Tin-Tin's master, Rusty. I simply pitched my turned-up brim hat into my locker and told kids I joined the Cub Scouts. Case solved. -Thinking on His Feet in Grand Rapids

ED NOTE: WOW! Now I know why guys like me lose out to guys like you... It's the great stories you tell. I wanna party with you! As far as an response to your declaration... I usually make a joke, but most cub scout jokes I know are rather risqué, something about eating brownies or Michael Jackson up to 2 packs a day. So, the only clean one I have is How can a cub scout tell if there is a buffalo is under his sleeping bag? The ceiling of your tent is very close. Happy Halloween!

I appreciate you stopping by and would like to hear your questions, comments, or editorials.

WITCHES HATS

This is a great Halloween treat that the kids can make, and everyone will love. The amount this recipe makes depends on how many cookies and chocolate kisses you have. It just depends on how many you want. Me... I could eat a bunch with no problem!

INGREDIENTS:

2 (16 ounce) packages fudge stripe cookies
¼ cup honey, or as needed
1 (9 ounce) bag milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped
1 (4.5 ounce) tube decorating gel

DIRECTIONS:

Place a fudge stripe cookie with bottom side up onto a work surface. Smear a small dab (about 1/8 teaspoon) of honey onto the bottom of a chocolate kiss, and secure the candy piece to the center of the cookie, covering the hole. Use decorating gel to pipe a small bow onto the cookie at the base of the candy piece. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
