DATELINE LIVERPOOL
The on again / off again, much anticipated Brad Savage & The Cockroach reunion, seems to be on again. Some of the band members (pictured above) were quoted as saying "Were close to patching up our differences and ready to play!" The Metro contacted former Tilch guitar player Eddie Stein who said he is preparing his parachute pants in case he gets the call to go onstage with the band. He then mumbled something like "Whose that I see walkin' in those woods" (whatever that means). The former manager of the Brad Savage & Eric Swan, Paul Stevens, says that people should lock their doors and hide their women because Brad, Eric, Bob, Carl, Lance & Steve are ready to perform. Possible sites for the reunion that are being thrown around are the Budokan in Japan, The Hollywood Bowl in California, Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas, Central Park, New York, or Patlewicz' basement. DATELINE CHARLOTTE, N.C.
Everyone please welcome an upcoming addition to the McCarty family. Ryan McCarty proposed to Missy Stabler in Charlotte, N.C., and she said "yes." They're looking at June 19 or 26, 2004 for the nuptials, and plan to reside in the Grand Rapids area. The McCartys in Grand Rapids are excited, and Ryan already is counting the benefits:

  • An increase in the amount of time they'll see each other
  • A decrease in the Grand Rapids-to-Charlotte airplane expenses on weekends.

The groom-to-be teaches second grade in Zeeland (that's a city near Holland, Michigan, not the Holland in Europe.) Missy has been teaching kindergarten in Charlotte, N.C., since the school year began. She was living in Kentwood (for trivia buffs, that's a GR suburb), when she accepted the out-of-state job over the summer. Then she met Ryan, and then they began their two-person crusade to save the airline industry.

ED NOTE: We will be proud to welcome Mrs. Missy McCarty to the family. Or maybe she would prefer Ms. Ms. Mac.

DATELINE UTICA
Mike McCarty, a former medallist at the Utica 5K Run, plans to come out of retirement. "Hey, I walked all the way up to Blockbuster and back the other day, so I'm going into training for this year's Utica 5K," Mike announced. "I welcome any and all to join, especially my brothers, sons, daughter-in-law, daughter-in-law-to-be, nephews, nieces, friends, AND JILL!!! … and especially if you don't enter the 50-59 age bracket." Even though Rick McCarty is in his age bracket, Mike welcomes the challenge. "I got something to prove," Mike declared. "And one of these days I'm gonna remember what it was." Mike conceded he was on the fence about joining, until he noticed the promise of a "high quality T shirt guaranteed to all entries before May 11th."

In an updated announcement, Mike will be opting for the 1 mile casual walk category. He challenges any McCarty to beat him in this venture.

The race/walk will be held Saturday, May 17. For more information, contact Lee Wolken at (586) 731-8310 or Utica City Hall at (586) 739-1600.

DATELINE GRAND RAPIDS
A city-wide power-outage beset the city of Grand Rapids on April 4. Our source, an imbedded reporter in the city who does not want to be identified fearing retaliation, cites the outage due to the ice-storm that gripped the city. The official response from Grand Rapids information minister "Chemical Mikie" claims that the outages were due to the "Great Satan" Detroit Edison, who is hording the electricity. Member of Edison says they are joining the Turds "Comcast Cable" in the north and coming into GR to "liberate" the cable and electric companies. More later.

DATELINE AUGUSTA
Gull Lake XIX will take place from May 7-9. Several McCartys are schedule to play in the annual 72 hole golf event held at Gull Lake Golf Course. Two notable absences. Tennessee's own Larry McCarty will not make the trip, and last years' open champion Rick McCarty will not play to defend his title. Lar is concentrating is time and energy to keep his fledgling LC Production Company afloat, fending off nuisance lawsuits by "the family" and Rick is slated to play on the Love Boat golf circuit in the Gopher Open.
