Hello everyone. I hope your summer is going well...

It was kind of a hectic month in June. While still recovering from my knee replacement surgery, we had a great visit out in Oregon. Margaret did have a couple health scares in June, but she is doing better. She and I would like to thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. Please also keep Jerry in your prayers while he is still battling cancer. Although he is in a lot of pain, he still contributed 4 pages to the Metro which were funny as ever. He is an inspiration to me and to a lot of others in his courage, while always looking out for others. Love you Jer.

It was great seeing Chris, Amanda, Alexa and Cooper again. Always a special time. They are also traveling to Michigan in early July (over the 4th), so if anyone wants to do something, let us know.

I am looking forward to seeing the films in this years' McCarty Metro Film Contest. The event runs from July 2 - July 8. You can always check it out at the Film Contest page. The specific rules will be added at 9pm on Sunday, July 1.

Our Biggest Loser Challenge finished June 1. Thank you for those that signed up, and those that also finished the challenge. Although I had knee surgery during that time and did not walk as much, our subscribers with their encouragement helped me through with their comments and suggestions.

I hope where every you may be that you have a fun and safe Fourth of July. The final thought I leave you with is a work from Abdullah Shoaib. I hope you enjoy it.

I'm very ugly
So don't try to convince me that
I am a very beautiful person
Because at the end of the day
I hate myself in every single way
And I'm not going to lie to myself by saying
There is beauty inside of me that matters
So rest assured I will remind myself
That I am a worthless, terrible person
And nothing you say will make me believe
I still deserve love
Because no matter what
I am not good enough to be loved
And I am in no position to believe that
Beauty does exist within me
Because whenever I look in the mirror I always think
Am I as ugly as people say?

(now read bottom up).

Here's to finding the beauty in yourself and in others... Cheers!
