Bradric Productions, along with The McCarty Metro, are pleased to announce its' first 72 Hour Film Project. The event will take place from October 19th - October 21st, 2012. The event is open to all. We are looking for people to write, act, direct and produce a short 4 minute or less movie and submit it within 72 hours. Here are the rules...

OVERVIEW: Starting on Friday October 19th, at 12:01 AM Eastern Time, you will have exactly 72 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film that meets the set guidelines laid out in “Details” below. The winners will be determined by the McCarty Metro staff.

PRIZE: The winners will be prominently featured on McCarty Metro, and Bradric Productions website, as well as our Facebook, Twitter sites, and will be featured on an upcoming Rick's Martini Bar episode.

DETAILS: On Friday October 19th at 12:01AM Eastern Time, we will update this page on the McCarty Metro with four items:

A list of genres
A list of phrases
A list of objects
One other yet-to-be-disclosed requirement

Your film submission must include ONE from each list. (Your film must fit into ONE of our posted genres, and must include ONE of our posted phrases, and must include ONE of our posted objects, and must meet the fourth yet-to-be-disclosed requirement.) We must do this to ensure that no films are written, shot, or edited before the beginning of our contest.

Example: A “comedy” film that includes the phrase “I have a bad feeling about this” in the dialogue and includes a telephone. (NOTE: This is just an example! We will post the official list of acceptable genres, phrases, and objects at the time listed above.)

-Your finished film must be uploaded before Sunday October 21st at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.

-Upload to YouTube and send a video link to contest@mccartymetro.com

-In the description of your video on YouTube, include this information.

  1. The Names of EVERYONE involved in the production of the video.
  2. Production Team name (If you have one. Ours is “Bradric Productions”)
  3. Type of Camera used.
  4. Type of editing software used.
  5. *UPDATED* Title and artist for any music you use.
  6. Chosen Genre
  7. Chosen Phrase
  8. Chosen Object

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

Videos can be no longer than 4 minutes in length.

Videos cannot include any explicit content (Obscene language, nudity, sexual situations, etc.)

Videos must include one of our posted genres, one of our posted phrases, one of our posted objects, and must meet the fourth yet-to-be-disclosed requirement.

Videos must be uploaded by Sunday October 21st at 11:59PM Eastern Time.

**UPDATED** Video cannot contain copyrighted music. Only music you create, own the rights to, or that is public domain and royalty free is permissible. Just because you own a band’s CD does not give you the “rights” to use it in your own production.

Failure to follow these guidelines will result in elimination from the contest.

FAQs:

Q: How will the films be judged?
A: On overall quality. Writing, acting, plot, etc.

Q: I don’t have a nice camera. And all I’ve got is Windows Movie Maker/iMovie. Can I still compete?
A: Absolutely! If you have a good script, we don’t care how poor the video quality is. Just do the best with what you have- we want EVERYONE to compete!

Q: Does my film have to be ABOUT the phrase and object I choose?
A: Not at all. As long as the phrase is spoken at some point in the film, and the object is in the camera’s view at some point in the film, you are good!

Q: What kind of music is permissible for inclusion in my film?
A: Either music you created, own the rights to, or public domain, royalty-free music. There are a ton of websites that offer this kind of music for download, completely free. Just because you own a band’s CD does not give you the “rights” to use it in your own production.

(Come back to this page often- it’ll be updated with more FAQs regularly leading up to the event!)

Those are all of the official rules! If you have any further questions, comment on this post and we’ll answer them.
