Dear Editor: Detroit Tigers analyst Rod Allen summed up the virtues of a Tiger player, adding: "It's a remedy for success." Why does Rod think this player is doomed? -Frustrated in GR
ED NOTE: Well pahdnuh. for the hitters, it is based on the mathematical formula of contact to damage ratio, but you know that you can't sneak cheese by a rat. If the big fella gets up to bat, they will need to get those fans out of left field before someone gets hurt. Of course if your facing Verlander, it's just not fair. But if you are able to hit the piece of cheese to 3rd base, Inge will gobble it up  because that boy has got some athleticism!" He also looks good in those high socks! If you face Zumaya and he gets it in on your hands, you had better call the lumber mill, pahdnuh. I believe that should answer your question.

Dear Editor: Oh my goodness, I enjoyed seeing Austin McCarty falling through the sky with that big handsome man strapped to him. How can I become a sky diver? -Wesly in West Hollywood
ED NOTE: So you can't say you "HATED IT?" I think you would be a natural because it probably is a position you are familiar with, only you do it up in the air. Geronimo

Dear Editor: To your brother Steve... It’s been a really hot summer.  So much so I decided to buy myself a brand new air conditioner.  Steve, do you think you could lend a buddy a hand and help me install it?  Oh, and since it’s an “Energy Star” compliant air conditioner I was thinking that maybe I could get a tax break too.  Have you heard of any tax breaks for installing new energy efficient appliances in your home? Let me know what you think Steve. -Jerome
ED NOTE: I'll let Steve O know. Also, did you notice how much taller Murray Feldman was than Steve? I think UHY should have sent over someone taller.

Dear Editor: With all the news coverage about the new Arizona law about immigration, I felt the need to write you a note about minorities. I believe we need to show more sympathy for these people. They travel miles in the heat. They risk their lives crossing a border. They don't get paid enough wages. They do jobs that others won't do or are afraid to do. They live in crowded conditions among a people who speak a different language. They rarely see their families, and they face adversity all day; every day. No, I'm not talking about illegal Mexicans... I'm talking about our troops! Doesn't it seem strange that many Democrats and Republicans are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegals, but don't support our troops, and are even threatening to defund them? -Max
ED NOTE: Right on, Maxine!

This month's Speak Out is from Joy

.

Governors of 35 states have already filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention. For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.”
