ON BEHALF OF ALL THE McCARTY'S... THANK YOU!

"THE BEST OF THE BEST"

Thank you for joining us and being part of our celebration of DJ's life. Not a day goes by that I do not think about my brother. He was truly a great man, son, and brother.

We celebrate his life today doing something that Danny loved to do…. GOLF! Even though DJ suffered from Lupus, and was either in pain or ill a lot, he would always be smiling and seemed to feel right at home on a golf course. I think the reason DJ loved golfing so much is that he felt in control of his game, and that is something that he couldn’t with his health… And he was good at it. He could play well in good weather conditions or poor. Whether sunny and warm or cold and wet, DJ thrived with a golf club in his hands. A race horse that runs well in the rain is called a “mudder”, and I think that could describe DJ’s play on the course and his outlook on life. Even though conditions may be bad, he went out, did his best, and had fun.

DJ was an awesome role model as both a brother and friend. He was always fun to be around, and ready to lend a hand to a friend or stranger without having to ask. Losing a man like him really makes me reflect and realize that you must live each day to the fullest and leave the world a better place than you found it!

While it saddens me that Dan is not here with us, I know that his spirit is alive and well. To me, there is nothing better than sharing a beer and few stories every year with a 140 friends and family. All of whom, directly or indirectly, were touched by Danny's story and voluntarily took time out of a busy schedule to be here today and support a worthy cause.

An important side effect of the DMGC is the increased awareness about Lupus. More people have Lupus than cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis and multiple sclerosis combined. Lupus is a widespread and devastating autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack the body's own tissue and organs, including the kidneys, heart, lungs, brain, blood, or skin. The immune system normally protects the body against viruses, bacteria, and other foreign materials. In an autoimmune disease like lupus, the immune system loses its ability to tell the difference between foreign substances and its own cells and tissue. The immune system then makes antibodies that attack the body's own cells. Lupus is not infectious and there is still no cure. The Lupus Alliance appreciates your continued support.

Thank you for keeping Dan's spirit burning bright in our hearts and on the golf course year after year.
