When the producers
of the "Beverly Hillbillies" refused to allow the
"Hillbilly" sounding voice of Lester Flatt for the
theme song, Jed Clampett, it broke the heart of most
Bluegrassers at the time. Jerry Scoggins did it because Lester
couldn't be available to do the "sponsor of the week"
bits for each episode, and Jerry, living in LA, could.
