Final Thought - Final Thought - Final Thought - Final Thought - Final Thought - Final Thought - Final Thought

.

Well, summer is drawing to a close. I hope everyone gets another chance at catching some rays and enjoy the weather. To all our Metro students out there, I just want to say good luck and enjoy yourself. Whether you go to pre-school, elementary school, middle school, high school, or college, always do your very best.

Thank you to all who came to the Cockroach Party on the 5th. I HAD A BLAST!!! Special thanks to Todd for agreeing to play just a week before the gig, and doing such a great job on guitar. Thanks also Bob, Carl, Jerry, Ron, Katlyn & Shane for your performances. You all were OUTSTANDING! Thank you also to Becky for letting us Cockroaches infest your home. I really appreciate all you did.

Thank you also to the golfers and sponsors out there that helped make this years DMGC the most successful ever. Thank you to Steve & Kristen for once again putting it all together. You always refer to DJ as "the best of the best", but you 2 are right up there as well.

Well, have a great month, and on with my final thought...

I work in a school district as the network administrator (the computer geek). A funny thing happened at school last week. We were sitting in a group, and the new building principal asked how many of us were contented in our lives. There were about 40 middle aged people (some a little younger, some a little older) in the group, and I was the only one who raised my hand. I wondered, did I misunderstand the question. Everyone was looking at me and I found myself defending why I am content. How weird that I have to defend that. They should be defending why they are not.

Content, according to the dictionary means: satisfied.

Content does not mean that I have no problems and that I am rich and live in the lap of luxury, no, no no. I do have problems, many of them, just like everyone else, some small and some large and burdening. I am by no means rich and I work very hard. My life is by far from perfect, however I feel content. I am content with who I am and what I have. I am content with my health. Although I have MS, and often I do not feel good, but I am thankful for the times that I do. I have a loving and beautiful wife who supports me, holds me, and plays with my hair when I need it. I have 3 great kids who make me proud, 1 very needy but funny dog, a mother who is still a big part of my life, brothers who I feel close to and can call at any time, and a couple of very good friends. I love my home, it is not a big mansion, just a simple comfortable home. My wife has a good job and I enjoy what I do at work. I keep very busy with my hobbies like writing the McCarty Metro, web page design, and strumming on the guitar every now and then. It may sound dull to you, but it is a little piece of heaven for me.

Life is what you make of it, if one is constantly looking for something bigger and better to come along, then you will never be content. It is all how you look at things. Maybe you should look at things through my eyes. Content, yes satisfied. That is not to be confused with settling, I am not settling, I am very happy and extremely contented, and yes satisfied.
